Hey, guys! How’s everyones week going so far? Work has been crazy busy over the last few days and it’s been making me feel like I’m in constant overdrive this entire week. I don’t know why, but whenever I’m super busy at work and I get to the point where my mind starts racing a million miles a minute, it continues to do so when I get home, even if I have absolutely nothing to do. I’m drinking a coffee right now, so I’m thinking I should probably just go ahead and lay that down so I can get this post written before I really start to bounce off the walls. Okay, so moving on to why I came here….
Over the last week or so I bought some drugstore goodies and today I wanted to show you what I picked up. Some of them have been old faithfuls of mine for a while now, while some of them I just bought for the first time, but I can honestly say they were really great choices because I’ve been loving them all.
St. Ives Fresh Hydration Spray Lotion. I have to start off with this one first because I think it might be my favourite and, in fact, I made sure to pick up two bottles this time around because I didn’t want to run out anytime soon. This is perfect for when you’re in a rush (I’m obviously sold) because it takes seconds to apply and seconds to dry. It’s so lightweight, not a bit greasy, and the smell is amazing. The coconut milk and orchid extra is, hands down, my favourite of the scents. Sometimes it feels super cold when you spray it on your skin, which I’m not a fan of in the early mornings, but I just try and remind myself that it’s waking me up even more (and I desperately need all of the help I can get in that area).
Soap & Glory Flake Away. I hesitated buying this at first because it seemed a bit pricey for an exfoliant, but I’m so glad I did because this stuff makes your skin feel amazing. So amazing that it doesn’t even feel like your own skin, or at least not my own skin because mine has never felt so soft before. I have to stop myself from using this every single day in the shower because I just love it so much. I really liked the Body Works exfoliants, but this one beats it by a mile.
Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush. I’ve been using this blush, and this blush only, for a couple of years now and I never think twice about trying a new one because I love everything about this one; the colour, how it applies (I use a foundation brush to apply and not a blush brush because of the cream texture), and the natural, dewy look it gives.
L’Oreal True Match Foundation. This is the first drugstore foundation that I think I’ve ever bought that I actually really liked, which is a pretty big statement. My three must haves in an everyday foundation is that is has to be natural looking and lightweight but yet still have a decent amount of coverage and this foundation has all three of them. The colour selection is huge, which can be both good and bad; bad when you end up standing in the aisle for twenty minutes trying to pick out a shade. I’m not sure if this one will completely take the place of the Estee Lauder’s Double Wear Light foundation that I’ve been using for years, but it’s definitely a great alternative, especially for half the price.
L’Oreal Miss Manga Mascara. I had read so many good things about this mascara from beauty bloggers that I was just waiting for the chance to buy this one. I’ll be honest and say that the very first time I used it I was disappointed and I couldn’t understand the hype. I’m not sure if maybe not a lot of the mascara was on the brush the first time, because the second time around I loved it, and have been loving it ever since. It gives so much length to your lashes, but my two favourite things about it is how it feathers out your lashes and how easy it is to remove. That last one is definitely a requirement for me when choosing a mascara because, no matter how great the product is, I will not spend ten minutes in the evenings trying to make my eyes look non raccoon-like.
Essie’s Marshmallow Nail Polish. Just as I was about to give up on buying anymore Essie nail polish, I stumbled upon a picture on pinterest of this colour and immediately fell in love. I love white nails, but not the bright, white-white, in your face colour, but the more subtle, cloudy, milky colour, which is exactly what this is.
Maybelline Insta Age Rewind Eraser. There’s been so much hype about this concealer and now I can finally see why. The coverage is great and it doesn’t look a bit cakey under your eyes, which I find to be pretty difficult to get both of those things in most concealers. A lot of product comes out on the sponge (and a little bit goes a long way), so I just dot it under my eyes and then use a regular brush to actually blend it in.
Well, now you’ve seen what goodies were in my bags and I have to say, it was a lot of fun showing them to you. I get really excited when I pick up any type of products, but I never knew I would get this excited just talking about them.
I think it’s safe to say the coffee has officially kicked in.
