SCENES FROM THE WEEKEND

Oct 24, 2016

It’s currently 9 o’clock on a Sunday night and I have ice cubes in a ziplock bag pressed against my lids to help relieve my tired eyes. I need an immediate refresher and this little remedy always works wonders for me (FYI- it also helps reduce dark circles and puffiness, so that’s always a bonus!). My point in all of that is that it’s been a busy weekend and I’m definitely feeling the effects of it on this Sunday night. I should be all nice and rested at this point in the weekend so I can tackle the work week head on, but I kind of feel more tired than I normally do after leaving work 5 o’clock on a Friday afternoon. Something tells me I’m probably going to be in for a very long week. But, since it was such a great weekend, it was definitely worth the exhaustion.
Friday started off with a work dinner, which lead into more of a work party. If there’s one thing that my work does right, it’s parties. I always look forward to any event they throw, and this one was no different; free cab rides, an amazing dinner, and an open bar. We ended up staying out much later than we intended, but I guess that’s always a great sign of a fun night!

Not even 6 hours later I was awake and getting ready to head out for breakfast and a girls spa day with my friend, something I’ve been looking forward to for weeks. We tried a new place for breakfast and it was really nice to switch up our usual breakfast spot. Then it was off to get pampered; manicures, pedicures, and facials at the Soothe Spa. Let me tell you, I think it’s going to be really hard getting manicures or pedicures done anywhere else after going here. After the initial foot soak, they moved us to the comfiest beds in our own private room where they worked on us from there for the next two and a half hours. It was an absolute dream.

Today started off with going out to brunch to celebrate a friends 30th birthday. I ended up eating way too much which resulted in me feeling like garbage for the rest of the day (hence the ice cube trick). I tried to avoid going home and falling asleep on the couch, so me and Todd instead decided to do some visiting. We stopped into our friends apartment to see her and her little girl, and then off we went to his brothers house, where I was fed even more food for dinner that I did not need. Uggh!

And as if I wasn’t tired enough, we stopped on the way home to do some grocery shopping. After all the eating out we did over the last few days, I wanted to make sure that I had lots of healthy options to keep me going for the next few days because….. DETOX!
Hope you all had a great weekend! I’m already looking forward to my salad for lunch tomorrow and going to bed tomorrow night!!

Until next time.
